Kamala’s Take on the Freedom Convoy? Pollution

The freedom convoy has arrived in Washington D.C. The truckers are protesting peacefully to show that they are tired of the vaccine mandates. They want to be recognized for all of their hard work – including keeping supply chains moving throughout the country when everyone else was in lockdown.

Now that they’re sitting on the streets, Kamala Harris has something to say.

She’s more concerned about the pollution than anything else. She knew that they were on their way – and she said nothing. It’s not like they would have listened, but she could have at least tried to cut them off at the pass.

Is she aware that truckers will release carbon emissions into the air no matter where they are? Does she realize that the trucking industry is almost single-handedly responsible for making sure that products get dispersed around the country?

There are no “green” 18-wheelers on the market. No matter how much the Biden administration wants to press to go electric, there’s not a solution right this very moment. And that means that Harris is going to have to deal with the convoy and all of the pollution that they bring with them.
Perhaps if Harris had tried to talk some sense into Biden and lift the vaccine mandates for the trucking industry, this wouldn’t be in her backyard right now.

“Pollution from heavy-duty trucks and buses has made the air poisonous to breathe and this pollution is also, of course, accelerating the climate crises, threatening the future not just of our communities, but of the entire world.”

This is how Harris addressed the issue of the convoy during a speech near the White House. Of course, she didn’t actually mention the “People’s Convoy.” Instead, she simply let it be known that she finds the entirety of the display to be poisonous.

Isn’t it funny how she’ll acknowledge that the trucks are creating air that is poisonous to breathe but do nothing about it? She still thinks that equality for the LGBTQ+ community or preventing Americans from showing IDs at the voter polls is more important.

The fact of the matter is that the People’s Convoy could have been prevented. The reason the truckers are there is to say that they don’t want a vaccine mandate. And why should they need the vaccine?

When everyone else was locked away in their homes, they were on the roads. They don’t interact with many people anyway – many spend 10+ hours a day behind the wheel, alone in their trucks. And when the COVID numbers are dropping by thousands of cases every day, it’s further proof that the vaccines aren’t going to do anything at this point.

If Harris is so concerned, she could work to eliminate the mandate. But Harris isn’t one to DO anything. Instead, she likes to complain.

Clearly, she hasn’t heard about being a solution-based politician. Instead of complaining about things, she could come up with solutions. That’s not the way she works, though. And at this point in her career, she can’t sleep her way out of it anymore.

Harris didn’t want to stop complaining about the trucks, though. In addition to complaining about the air pollution in DC, she shared about a community in California that she visited when she was the state attorney general. The pollution from public buses and freight trucks was polluting the air and hurting the community.

Harris shared a dream about getting rid of diesel-powered trucks and buses and replacing them with electric-powered vehicles. She went on to say, “Imagine a future: The freight trucks that deliver bread and milk to our grocery store shelves and the buses that take children to school and parents to work…Imagine that they produced zero emissions.”

Right now, that’s all she’s got – a dream. Meanwhile, the truckers have real concerns. Too bad Harris can’t get her head out of the clouds long enough to do something about it all.
