It’s so easy to get distracted these days with the avalanche of news burying us in a quagmire of muck. So it’s understandable if you missed the U.S. Army lowering its education standards for enlistment. High school diplomas and GEDs be damned, come on in and see the world. Why now of all times? One more thing. Why is the deployment of Army troops already assigned in Poland being extended? And why are we sending more?
The other question is why is Joe Biden sending more destroyers, fighter jets, and air defense systems to accompany the build-up of troop strength? And why is he moving the whole shebang further east? You don’t think… He couldn’t be planning a full-scale attack like he said he wouldn’t do… Could he?
“I said Putin’s looking for the Finlandization of Europe,” Biden said through clenched teeth. “He’s going to get the NATOization of Europe. And that is exactly what he didn’t want, but exactly what needs to be done to guarantee security for Europe. And I think it’s necessary.” Well… Good for you buddy.
The move deepens America’s commitment to NATO by surpassing all European and eastern block nations’ levels. All indicators point towards a Putin/Biden showdown with a few allied friends lending a hand where they can.
It could be that Biden is taking direction from Slovakia’s defense minister Jaroslav Nad who said, “My position is that once Russia gets the whole Ukraine, they will proceed farther. Moldova, Baltic countries, Poland, Slovakia, Romania. We have to stop them.” We? He must’ve had a mouse in his pocket named Joe Biden.
Since Slovakia gave its one lone Russian-manufactured anti-aircraft system to neighbor and friend Zelensky, they’d feel better if they had some T-72 tanks but only if the West will provide them.
An American brigade combat unit is also heading off to Romania to fulfill the desires of Bucharest, as the Army is establishing a permanent headquarters in Poland to include the V Corps, a field support battalion, and an Army garrison headquarters. As if this weren’t enough, two new squadrons of F-35 fighters are being deployed to the U.K.
According to Tuuli Duneton, Estonia’s defense policy chief, Biden isn’t done yet. “There are consultations ongoing but I cannot say [sic] exact numbers of troops they are planning to rotate to the Baltic countries. It’s not only the troops but also key capabilities that we are missing” that are likely heading for the region, including “air defense capabilities and long-range fires … so those are more than welcome in Estonia because we do not possess those capabilities today.”
SincePutin plowed into Ukraine last February, U.S. troop deployment has escalated to over 100,000 ready and able warriors waiting for the word go, and more are on the way.
In addition to the new warships being sent to the region, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin extended the deployment of the entire Mediterranian-based Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group to at least summer’s end.
This is what’s been happening while we’ve been absorbed with watching the Jan. 6 hearings and fussing about Roe v. Wade. There’s a dark ominous cloud looming on the horizon and it’s looking like rain.
