Unsurprisingly, Biden Breaks His Promise; the US Now Has Boots on the Ground in Ukraine

After exiting a 20-year war in Afghanistan, the last thing the American people wanted was to send our troops back into battle. Those who have been serving need a break. The uptempo and the duration of these deployments took a massive toll on our all-volunteer service. Finally exiting from Afghanistan was hard enough, but then watching it fall as we left broke many who served at all between 2001 and 2021.

So when Russia came to the border of Ukraine to start posturing, many Veterans and active duty alike were becoming concerned about the prospect of a war in Russia. While many stood ready to answer the call if needed, President Biden assured the American people and commanders that nobody was going to Russia or Ukraine. Some would be moved onto bases in neighboring countries, but they would not be crossing over.

Turns out that this was just typical leftist lies. President Biden has officially sent troops into Ukraine under the guise of being a “defense attaché” with a non-combat mission. This mission is to alleviate US concerns that weapons being sent to Ukraine are disappearing onto the black market.

With Brig. Gen. Garrick Harmon spearheading the inspection and inventory, many expect this will go quickly, efficiently, and without incident. Joining him and other troops is the Office of Defense Cooperation operating out of the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine. Along with identifying weapons and preventing them from disappearing, they are also helping Kyiv in setting up border checkpoints to inspect for weapons.

By training inspectors and guards on this mission, they hope to ensure the weapons stay where they are expected to go. Keeping these resources off the black market is supposed to aid Ukraine in its war efforts against the Russians, but with so many splinter and civilian cells operating in the country it will be impossible to ensure everything is on the up and up. Any weapons found in violation will be confiscated and destroyed.

An anonymous US official was quoted as saying “US personnel have recently resumed on-site inspections to assess weapon stocks in the country whenever and wherever the security conditions allow. The return of our defense attaché and Office of Defense Cooperation personnel in the country has allowed us to resume this critical function.”

This statement is clear-cut proof that not only is President Biden now admitting he has broken his promise about boots on the ground in Ukraine, but that the promise has been broken for some time now. While they had previously been there, they left on February 14th, 10 days before Russia began its invasion of Ukraine. This move was to ensure tensions of the war becoming nuclear were kept as low as possible as both Russia and the US are heavily armed with nukes.

Since the beginning CIA operatives and other organizations have had assets in the country to provide training, logistics support, and intel back to the US. While not publicly proclaimed, it was an unspoken fact that the US wouldn’t fully abandon the country. In April Pentagon Press Secretary John F. Kirby admitted that the US had been training Ukrainian soldiers in Germany and other countries for the conflict. Again, not surprising, and still no boots on the ground.

Biden’s vow in February is now echoing in history. “Our forces are not and will not be engaged in the conflict with Russia in Ukraine. Our forces are not going to Europe to fight in Ukraine but to defend our NATO Allies and reassure those Allies in the east.”

While carefully staged to allow for this kind of move, his other statements about keeping troops out of Ukraine are now completely contradicted. The American people deserve better. The troops deserve a better commander-in-chief. The Ukrainian people deserve freedom from the Russians too. It just doesn’t need to cost the American taxpayer or come with the loss of American lives.
