Every day the buses roll into New York City. Despite his efforts to maintain his Sanctuary City tagline, Mayor Eric Adams has had to admit he and the city have had enough. Trying to relocate them from five-star hotels near Central Park to abandoned cruise ship ports along the docks has not gone as smoothly as the mayor hoped for.
Many of these illegals are demanding they be given jobs and permanent housing, not moved to yet another shelter. With the mayor unable to meet those demands, according to the New York Post, many are happily taking taxpayer-covered tickets to Canada as they continue the quest for a “better quality of life.” Speaking to the illegals, they didn’t hold back on their thoughts about America, NYC, and their hopes for Canada.
“The military gave me and my family free bus tickets. I am going to Canada for a better quality of life for my family,” proclaimed one of the illegals running for the border yet again. Despite being housed in a well-established hotel and being fed on demand, they still found what was outside those doors was too scary for them. There was too much risk.
“I wanted to live in New York because I thought it would be a better future for my daughters. But as the days went by, I saw insecurity, many homeless people, many people who shout and are disrespectful, and many people on drugs.” The complaint here that somehow the homelessness, the disrespect, and the drug use here in NYC are worse than where they left is mind-blowing.
With tickets running $40 to $70 a pop to ride the bus from NYC to Canada, hundreds of these illegals are headed for the next border each day. So far, the Canadians have been welcoming, but that may not last too long depending on where they are ending up. In the wake of the 50,000 illegals that have ended up in NYC since last spring, 30,000 have been holed up in over 80 hotels across the city, as well as in monstrous shelters like the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal.
With sources close to the mayor forecasting the illegals will cost the city $4 billion in the next two years to house, clothe, educate, and provide medical services to the latest border jumpers, the decision to make the city look less attractive only makes sense for the mayor. At first, they thought it was cute. They thought they could handle the problem at the border, and were proud of this feather in their liberal cap.
Now as time has passed, they are learning that they have only been receiving a drop in the bucket from the border communities, and despite massive taxes, a booming infrastructure, and more opportunities than they know what to do with, it’s still impossible to help all these illegals.
For many of these illegals, the promises of President Biden rolling out the red carpet is too good for them to pass up. With the decades of stories about NYC that have made their way through their home countries, a free ticket to the big city just makes sense for them. Then they get there and see how the same liberal policies that made the US so attractive are the same ones that are destroying it.
Those coming here looking for a better life than what they left behind are finding themselves very disappointed these days. An opportunity just isn’t there like it once was, and many Americans are starting to retake the “Americans first” mindset that we lost along the way. While the illegals are leaving, they are expressing just how disappointed they are with the US.
“I am going to Canada for the safety and future of my girls. I only ask God that everything goes well and that Canada is not like the United States.” If only she knew just how many Americans can agree with that statement.
The US is not what it once was. Thanks to their actions and the bleeding hearts on the left we may never know that greatness again.
