Team Harris boasts about “record-breaking” donations received after Biden’s removal from the campaign trail. However, some organizations funding her are as dishonest as she is.
ActBlue raised around $47 million in donations in the hours following Biden’s withdrawal from the race. It was a surprising haul for the unpopular vice president, but no one is as surprised as those who donated.
A closer look at this claim reveals that this total includes all donations to the nonprofit. It isn’t clear how much of that money was donated to Harris.
ActBlue, founded in 2004, is a nonprofit fundraising organization that supports Democratic causes and candidates. It has raised $14 billion in donations.
In December 2022, a Gateway Pundit report by Chris Gleason broke down the demographics of supposed ActBlue donors. Many big-money donors were unemployed and lived in average homes in average neighborhoods.
One such donor was a 79-year-old woman who donated to ActBlue over 22,600 times since 2019. She lives in an apartment in Richmond Virginia and pays around $2000 in rent. While her donations to ActBlue may be in question, It’s confirmed that she has donated around $1000 to GOP candidates in local elections.
In May 2023, the Gateway Pundit collaborated with social media influencer Tim Cramer to investigate fraud claims and donation harvesting in Indiana. During the investigation, multiple “big-money donors” denied giving ActBlue thousands of dollars.
The team looked at alleged donors in St. Louis, Missouri, and found the same results. They went to the homes of the people listed as donors on the ActBlue website and found that they didn’t give the money to the organization. Sometimes, the homeowners didn’t know who “donated” from their address.
Parker Thayer, who works with the Capital Research Center, discovered that one group of donors in Michigan were sending a lot of money. This same, small group of donors has repeatedly given tens of thousands of dollars to ActBlue.
Thayer showed a screenshot of a donor from a small town called Monroe. This person is said to have given over 20,000 donations since 2019. The donor gave ActBlue more than $40,000. Thayer pointed out that they live in a small house built in 1956.
Federal Election Commission records show that this donor gives to Republicans. He has donated to the Trump campaign.
Another person in Milan, Michigan, is said to have donated more than 9,000 times since 2019. Thayer found that 5,526 of these donations happened after January 1st, 2023. This means that, for the last 575 days, this person donated ten times daily.
Another person in Brighton, Michigan, has made over 2,500 donations since October 2023. This person’s address is a retirement home, which raises worries about scams targeting the elderly.
Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares, Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey, and Wyoming Secretary of State Chuck Gray are looking into different cases of potential donor fraud.
Miyares is investigating ActBlue and its related organizations because of serious claims of fraud, deception, and illegal activities in Virginia. The accusations include hundreds of thousands of dollars in suspicious donations from people in Virginia. Some donors have made multiple daily donations for years, adding up to tens of thousands of dollars.
Many of these donors are older people who say they are “not employed” or “retired,” and their addresses seem unusual. These donations may come from fake donors or made-up accounts without the donor’s agreement.
Miyares has asked for an explanation of how ActBlue makes sure donations are real.
Secretary of State Chuck Gray has started investigating ActBlue Wyoming. The organization is accused of using people’s identities to hide illegal donations, including money from foreign sources.
ActBlue has responded to the allegations by calling them a “years-long disinformation and harassment campaign.”
As Harris enjoys her political honeymoon, some questionable sources might have funded her trip. While it might be surprising to see how much money ActBlue has raised for her, it’s nothing compared to the surprise of those who didn’t realize they had donated to her campaign.
