You’ve probably heard by now that Taylor Swift had to cancel a leg of her world tour following an attempted Islamic terrorist attack. What we haven’t heard until now is just how close the jihadis came to carrying out their planned attack. Law enforcement in Vienna barely stopped the attack from happening.

Two teenagers, aged 17 and 19, have been taken into custody. They planned to drive a car bomb into a crowded area at the concert venue, jump out, detonate the bomb from a safe distance, and then begin hacking all the little teenage white girls who make up Taylor Swift’s fan base with machetes.

It sounds like a dopey plan that would have no chance of succeeding at a crowded concert venue. However, the 17-year-old had recently secured a job at the concert venue. With an employee authentication sticker on his car, he could have very well driven into a crowded area at the concert hall and they could have carried out the attack as planned.

When police caught the two, following a tip from someone at a local mosque, they recovered chemicals and materials to construct homemade bombs. The suspects were in the final stages of assembling the bombs to carry out the attack.

Police say the two teens were radicalized online by ISIS, which has been making a bit of a comeback ever since you-know-who has been in the White House. Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer says the threat from this attack was “very serious” and a major tragedy was narrowly averted.

Taylor Swift’s seven-month Eras Tour is expected to draw 3 million fans to her shows. Earlier this year, Swift noted that her greatest fear was how they were going to keep that many fans safe from a terrorist attack.
