Kamala Harris has finally issued a policy proposal! It’s a bad one, but at least it’s something. It’s been a month now since Kamala knifed her boss in the back and stole his delegates to suddenly become the Democrat nominee for president with zero votes under her belt. It’s about time she proposed something. Her first idea out of the gate was Cuban- and Soviet-style price controls on groceries.
Yikes!
Kamala Harris promises to stick it to those greedy grocery stores that have been causing all this bad inflation for the past three and a half years. She proposed a “federal ban on corporate price-gouging” on food and wants to “impose stiff penalties in the food industry.”
We thought that Kamala the day-drinker was simply drunk all the time. It turns out that she’s also a complete economic illiterate.
For anyone who skipped that day in Econ 101, price controls always cause shortages of the goods that you impose them on. If you impose price controls on food, you end up with a massive shortage of food. We’ve never had to deal with a real famine in America before, but we’re about to if she gets her way and becomes the next president. Say hello to the Soviet bread line!
Price controls always attack a problem from the wrong end. Groceries don’t cost more because the grocery stores are being greedy. Groceries cost more because Biden and Harris strangled American energy production. Transportation of groceries from farms and ranches to their ultimate destination at the grocery store has skyrocketed.
If Kamala imposes price controls on food, farmers and ranchers will simply stop producing food because it will be too expensive for them. Americans will starve to death if this happens. That’s Kamala Harris’s first policy proposal. Starve people to death!
