Time Magazine is the latest publication to learn that blindly supporting a candidate can have embarrassing consequences.
One thing former President Donald Trump was able to highlight during Tuesday’s presidential debate was VP Harris’s flip flops on her far-left agenda.
“Now she wants to do transgender operations on illegal aliens who are in prison,” Trump noted.
Time Magazine wasted no time reporting Trump’s claim as false, even though it had been previously reported in a 2019 ACLU candidate questionnaire. Time Magazine was forced to retract its statement and acknowledge it as a true claim.
But Time Magazine wasn’t alone in its embarrassment. The New Yorker’s Susan Glasser mockingly included the claim in a post-debate piece. She categorized Trump’s comments as a rant. She mentioned that his claim that the Vice President wanted to do “transgender operations on illegal aliens in jail” was particularly memorable and confusing. Glasser noted that no one understood what Trump meant and laughed off the claim.
Jennifer Senior from The Atlantic joked that Trump’s comment about “transgender operations on illegal aliens” was too confusing for people playing drinking games. Michael Weiss from The Insider reported that Trump’s exact quote was about the Vice President wanting to do these operations on prisoners. The Daily Beast included Trump’s quote as one of the night’s best moments but didn’t mention Harris’ previous support for the issue.
And no surprise here, Marc Lamont Hill, a former CNN commentator, said that Trump’s comment about wanting to do “transgender operations on illegal aliens in prison” was the “most shocking thing” he’s ever heard in a debate.
But it’s hard to ignore the intention behind Harris’s 2019 pledge. “It is important that transgender individuals who rely on the state for care receive the treatment they need, which includes access to treatment associated with gender transition. That’s why, as Attorney General, I pushed the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation to provide gender transition surgery to state inmates.”
She vowed her support in making sure federal prisoners and detainees get the “medical care they need” for gender transition, including surgery, while they are in custody. She said in her 2019 pledge that she believes this treatment is necessary and will ensure all federal agencies responsible for medical care provide it.
Perhaps the reason the left-owned media was so quick to dismiss the claim as false is because it is simply too outlandish to be true.
On Monday night, CNN highlighted Harris’s stance ahead of the debate when senior editor Andrew Kaczynski told host Erin Burnett about Harris’s response to the 2019 questionnaire.
Burnett was shocked by Harris’ response. She couldn’t believe Harris supported the position. She noted that while it’s hard to imagine someone proposing using taxpayer money for such surgeries, Harris did so verbally and in writing.
It’s just one of many claims the mainstream media denies. They are sticking to the narrative that Trump’s “Haitians eating pets” claim is false despite videos and police reports claiming otherwise. One Springfield, Ohio, resident found her cat skinned and hung in her Haitian neighbor’s backyard. A police report in real-time revealed Haitian immigrants walking away from a public park with dead geese in their hands.
Even if the liberal media denies claims of immigrants eating pets, the story highlights a deeper issue in Springfield, Ohio.
Between 15,000 and 20,000 Haitian immigrants have moved to the Springfield area to “escape gang violence and political problems” in Haiti. The Biden administration has allowed many migrants from Haiti, Venezuela, Nicaragua, and Cuba to enter the U.S. legally through a humanitarian parole program, according to The Cincinnati Enquirer.
These Haitians are in the U.S. legally under a temporary protected status, which is given to refugees who can’t return to their home countries because it’s too dangerous or unstable. Many came to Springfield after being hired by local companies for jobs local residents weren’t filling.
It would seem that listening to the debate moderators’ real-time, one-sided fact-checking of Trump led to unexpected consequences for some liberal news organizations. Will it matter in the end? America will find out on November 5.
