Yuengling Backs Age Restrictions for Drag Shows

With Bud Light out of the picture for most beer drinkers, many have turned to “America’s Oldest Brewery,” Yuengling. And that beer company just proved they are nothing like Bud Light.

If you haven’t heard, Yuengling nearly had its own Bud Light-like experience. But unlike the latter, the Pottsville, Pennsylvania, company immediately took a stand in the right direction.

Like most beer companies, Yuengling tries to sponsor many events and locations each year. One of which is Musikfest, an annual music and arts festival in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Like most years, it’s to be held in June and incorporate all sorts of music shows.

Naturally, one of those will be the “Draggin’ with the Divas” show. Yes, it’s a drag show. According to the ticket info page, a smaller music show by the “Divas” will be held on June 30th at the Musikfest Café. It will be “family-friendly.”

Also, a line on the ticket info page insinuated that Yuengling is sponsoring the drag show.

“Need Your drag fix before our iconic Musikfest Drag Show? Well, the queens return to Musikfest Café pres. by Yuengling June 30th.”

There’s just one problem.

Yuengling is not and did not sponsor the drag show.

And they wasted very little time in making that known. On the same day the post about the upcoming drag show was made, Yuengling made one of their own.

In it, they noted that the company had long been a proud sponsor of ArtsQuest, the company that put on Musikfest. As such, “we have naming rights to the ‘Musikfest Café Presented By Yuengling’ venue.” However, that does not mean that they support the drag show, no matter how “family-friendly” it may be.

Additionally, Yuengling said that they do not support those under the age of 18 attending the show or underage drinking.

And ArtsQuest verified this, “Yuengling does not have any involvement in the acts or content that are booked for our venues.”

Way to get ahead of this, Yuengling. And kudos to you for not selling out the LGBT agenda.
