House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) may be about to meet the same fate as his RINO predecessor Kevin McCarthy. After Johnson attempted—and failed—to bring Joe Biden’s government spending bill, which was crafted in secret between Kevin McCarthy, Mitch McConnell, and the Biden White House last year, the man who was quickly dubbed “MAGA Mike” after his election may soon have to face a No Confidence vote in the House. If only House Republicans had listened to their constituents in the first place, this could have been avoided.
Frustrated with former Speaker McCarthy’s inability to keep any promises that he had made to the House Freedom Caucus, they ousted him in October on a No Confidence vote and then vacated the chair. Many House Republicans pitched a hissy fit at this and refused to then elect a fiscal conservative to replace McCarthy, which was exactly what Republican voters wanted. House RINOs torpedoed the possibility of Reps. Jim Jordan (R-OH) or Byron Donalds (R-FL) from filling the chair. Instead, everyone settled on Mike Johnson as a compromise candidate, and the establishment then lied to the American people by dubbing him “MAGA Mike.”
One of the promises that “MAGA Mike” made to the Republican caucus was that he’d only bring single-subject spending bills to the House floor. Panicked at the thought of a government shutdown (which sane Americans all support at this point), “MAGA Mike” resurrected the $1.6 trillion spending monstrosity that Biden, McCarthy, and McConnell wrote last year.
Aside from spending $1.6 trillion when the US federal government can’t even afford to purchase a new can opener right now, Johnson asked for zero concessions on border security or other conservative priorities. It was infuriating, and it was far from Johnson’s promise of single-subject spending bills. The bill is yet another 1,000-page monstrosity that no one would be able to read before voting on it, and it doesn’t do a single thing to curb the radical Democrat Party’s lightning-fast destruction of America.
Good grief! Democrats are literally trying to ban some of the House Republicans from running for reelection this year by branding them as “insurrectionists,” and guys like “MAGA Mike” are too cowardly to fight back. It’s disgusting, really.
On Wednesday, to protest Johnson’s cowardly concessions to the Democrat Party and Joe Biden, 12 House Republicans voted against a procedural vote on an unrelated bill. This effectively prevented Johnson from bringing the spending monstrosity to the House floor for a full vote. It was a humiliating and much-deserved defeat for the new Speaker.
Kevin McCarthy was literally ousted from the Speakership for trying to advance the exact same bill. Did Johnson think that no one in the House Freedom Caucus would notice?
Congressman Chip Roy (R-TX) says a “motion to vacate” the chair of the Speakership is now back on the table as far as he’s concerned.
“I’m leaving it on the table. I’m not gonna say I’m gonna go file it tomorrow night. I’m not saying I’m not gonna file it tomorrow. I think the speaker needs to know that we’re angry about it,” Rep. Roy told The Blaze.
That’s ironic since Chip Roy is one of the anti-MAGA RINOs who actually supported keeping Kevin McCarthy as Speaker back in October. The good news for America is that as long as the House GOP remains this dysfunctional, they won’t be able to cave to the Democrat Party on every single issue—which is what they really want to do. They’d rather lose the country to the Democrats’ communist takeover than get their hands dirty by fighting back. If “MAGA Mike” does get ousted, he’ll have earned it.
